Grade 11 History students stepped out of the classroom to learn about the experience of Canadians in World War I and II. On May 21st, we took a tour of the Royal Artillery Museum in Shilo, where we saw how the technology of artillery evolved from the late 1800s to today. After a quick stop for lunch, we visited the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum; students got to step into a plane and imagine what it might be like to be up in the air. We culminated our unit on the World Wars on May 28th when we attended an award ceremony for a local veteran, A.F. Minty, who was a member of the RCAF in WW II.
