Tipi Teachings at ECI

Students of Erickson Collegiate Institute's Current Topics in First Nations, Metis, and Inuit Studies worked to organize an outdoor cultural classroom recently. An aspect of the project included receiving the necessary teachings from elders, Dennis and Elaine McKay, on tipi teachings. Students from several grade levels received the teachings after a smudge. The tipi now stands as the first phase of the project - the next phase includes another tipi and sitting area, with a firepit in the fashion of a medicine wheel.
