When students return to school after a 2-week holiday and a 2-week period of Remote Learning they will find an Outdoor Skating rink at the North end of the school. This past week students volunteered to help bring the project to life. Tuesday the area was excavated by Beatty's Construction followed by Wednesday and Thursday groups of student volunteers helped Mr. Bayes build and support the frame.
Students who have their own skates, helmets with cages and hockey sticks can bring them to use for Phys Ed classes at the end of January. In February the semester changes and a new groups of students will be able to use the rink during Phys Ed.
All students must wear skates and a helmet with a cage while they are on the ice. ECI will be purchasing some skates and helmets for students to borrow if they don't have their own.
If anyone has gently used skates, helmets or hockey sticks kicking around their houses that they would be willing to donate to the school it would be greatly appreciated and they will get well used.
Many thanks to the Municipality of Clanwilliam-Erickson and the Erickson Fire Department for donating and hauling the water for our rink!
